Samosa King Embassy Indian Restaurant #1

Samosa King Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello Indian Sweets!
So I looked back at the list that Sahyeed gave me and he recommended me Samosa King Embassy Indian Restaurant in Scarborough. It's near Middlefield and Finch.

When we arrived..... OMG! There was a line-up that filled up halfway of the restaurant! This was around 11 AM!

Yup! We started from here!

The good thing was, we got to see what type of snacks or sweets they've got! I tried a few at an Indian wedding but most of theses were a mystery to me.

Firni/Phirni/Kheer
My favourite Indian dessert!!! I love vanilla rice pudding but with nutmeg and pistachio nuts? Oh yeah! It enhances the rice pudding at least twice in my opinion! I hope to learn to make my own one day.

Hmm... I never tried these before. I don't know what they are.

I should be avoiding dairy but oh man! This looks like Indian Pudding. I have to try it next time I am in the area!

I like these! I haven't had it in awhile! I wonder how it tastes different between the dark gulab jamun and the light one. I will get one of each next time!

Hmmm.. Those deep fried dough that is all twisted up and coated in syrup. They reminded me of crazy straws.

And of course! Vegetarian Spring Rolls! I saw some young senior Chinese ladies waiting in line.

Yesssssss! I love roti! I am definitely getting a few of those for home!

Window Samosa
I call them window samosa because when we ordered 50 samosa, they appeared to be smaller. Yes, we were crazy enough to take home 50 samosa. It wasn't my type of samosa. I look for at least 2 types of seed spices in the samosa filling. It tasted like mashed potatoes with Korean red pepper paste with vegetables. Danny loved it but I am currently seeing to replicate a certain type of samosa. I should blog about that later.

Menchies #1

Menchie's Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello to everyone!
I crave for frozen yogurt once in a while. I usually go to Menchies for a small treat.

I tried pretty much every flavour every time I visit.

It was a difficult choice to make as always.

I love the flavour of green tea but it tasted weird to me.

Caramel Apple it is!
I told you it was a small treat! I loved it because it had a fresh taste of apples and it wasn't too sweet.

I definitely will be returning again! This wasn't my first time at a Menchies at this location. I've been to at least two different locations. This place deserves a 3.5/5.0. I always see a lot of women and young children huddling over the frozen yogurt machines.  Once in awhile, I would see seniors hanging around Menchies. It's good to know that their products are circulating. Their staff members are nice and take time to greet you. The place is clean and their machines usually are filled with yogurt. I have been to some yogurt shops where the machine is out of order or more yogurt needs to be made. Whoever works here knows how to make sure their shop runs smoothly. I just wish some of their sorbets and yogurts isn't so sweet.

Very Fair #9

Very Fair Chinese Restaurant Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello hungry people!
I come here once in a while especially when I am craving for Dim Sum or Chinese food in general.

It's an underground restaurant that can be accessed through their stairs or elevator. There are a lot of Chinese seniors here and some families. You just got to go where the Chinese people are at for really good Chinese food.

Beef Congee with some Egg.

Isn't it beautiful?
It was hot, fresh and flavourful. No extra sauce was needed.

Up at the front is Beef Rice Rolls (my favourite!) soaking in sweet soy sauce and at the back is Shrimp Rice Rolls.

Who eats Honey Glazed Beef Ribs in the morning? Dad!
It's really sweet for my palate but I like to nibble on just one.

I just wanted to show that they still use ladies screaming out their food item as they stroll their carts around.

Pork and Chives fried dumplings with red vinegar sauce.

At your left, Black Sesame baked buns (Floury/bread) and Pork baked buns.

I just wanted to show you what the baked pork bun looked like in the inside. Dan enjoyed this.

And the black sesame baked bun. I didn't like it because of the bun. I preferred the steamed buns with rice flour.

Sesame Rice balls that was hallow inside. It's extremely chewy so take your time eating this.

Sushi Bong #1

Sushi Bong Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello Sushi Lovers!
This is probably my fifth time here at Sushi Bong. Danny was raving about this place for about a year. It's right across from North York Centre Station.

Whenever I have the opportunity to drop by at Sushi Bong, I go here for cheap, fresh sushi. I don't really go anywhere else for sushi but I go to Sushi Bong 2-4 times a month.

The Koreans here work so hard! I was amazed how much customers come in and out. They get mainly orders in advanced by phone and the customers come to pick it up. I usually dine-in but it seats only about 8 people. So you might have to wait to be seated.

You will make your buck worth it if you order the Dynamite Roll. It's the "Best Value Rolls" in Toronto. These are HUGE rolls and the ingredients are fresh. One Dynamite Roll + another small roll will fill me up.

Spicy Salmon Roll has Gochugang paste (Korean Red Pepper Paste). It was okay. Danny loved it!

I love the fact that they aren't shy with the toasted sesame seeds.

Open wide! I can only fit half of this in my mouth.

Judge for yourself. Visit Sushi Bong when you're in the area. Their prices are hard to resist. Sushi Bong deserves a 4.5/5.0. The Korean staff members are all about customer service and efficiency. One of the Korean sushi makers were watching me smile as I eat. I felt his vibe coming at me and when I looked up, I was like, "Oh, they want to see my reaction to their work." The only drawback is you might have to wait in a line to be seated if you come at a busy hour. The sushi is really well salted so you don't need any soy sauce. I personally wish there was less sodium because I do enjoy the flavour of soy sauce.

Z-Teca (Yonge) #2

Z-Teca Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello Foodies!
I was still pretty curious Z-Teca Burritos.

Avocado and Egg Burrito 10 inch whole wheat tortilla, sour cream, scrambled egg (one egg), house made guacamole, onion, cilantro and Monterrey jack cheese

There could have been some more guacamole but I ordered when they were shifting from their morning menu to lunch menu. They were quite low on their morning ingredients.

Baskin Robbins

Hello everyone!
It's been awhile since I had Baskin Robbins ice cream. There was one at Dundas and Yonge inside the 10 Dundas East (near AMC Theatres).

Danny got Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. It had a lot of ice crystals in it which indicated it was stale or old.
I got Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream which was fine and started to melt right away.

I think this Baskin Robbins deserves a 3.0/5.0. We probably be getting the popular ice cream flavours because it is guaranteed to be fresh.  The staff was nice and gave me a sample before ordering.

Barogunpang Bakery #1

Baro Gun Pang Bakery Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello everyone!
So there is a Korean bakery on Yonge which is in the Persian area, a bit north of Cummer Avenue and Yonge Street.

This was my favourite Korean bakery as a child and one of the first ones to be established in Toronto.

Their products are fresh and not too sweet, perfect for the Korean palate. I usually get the mocha cake which is my favourite. I usually order it in advance so it's super fresh. I specifically ask to double the amount of coffee in the cake and more buttercream because it is a very light mocha taste to it. But they will charge extra which is totally fair.

For your information, their doughs does contain milk and butter.

Next time I come here, I'm getting one of the cream filled roll cakes.

So Danny fell into this crazy addiction of Korean hot dogs when I introduced him to it. It's pretty much a sausage wrapped up in croissant like dough, skewed by a chopstick and then tossed into the deep fryer.

This is another one of my favourites! I don't know what it's called in English but it's another deep fried bread with stuffing. Inside, it's stuffed with a vegetarian potato salad that includes chopped eggs and glass noodles.

I took a few bites to show you guys the inside. Danny also fell in love with this. They also have this bun with a red bean filling, seafood filling and beef filling. In my opinion, the vegetarian (potato salad) filling is the best!
I would give this place overall a 4.0/5.0. It is a great bakery but ... the early bird gets the worm. Around noon, all of the deep fried hot dogs are gone and other good stuff. So you have to come early as possible to get what you want. Generally speaking, the workers are very nice and even generous at times (give away freebies at certain situations). They really care about quality. I wish there were more buttercream in their cakes but that's just me. The place is usually clean and smells like cakes.
