Dutch Dreams #2

Dutch Dreams on Urbanspoon

Hello Ice Cream Lovers!

So I thought Dutch Dreams was suppose to open in a couple of months from now. I actually stepped in curiously to ask if they were open. Apparently, Dutch Dreams was open since last Sunday.

You would love to visit Dutch Dreams for several reasons:
1. They make their own ice creams. They got great flavours like Birthday Cake, Red Velvet Cheese Cake, Piña Colada and more.  You can taste the quality of the ice cream! It's everything you expect from Ice Cream from the 80's. This ice cream is real!
2. It's a magical, whimsical, interesting place to be.
3. Who knows if you might bump into a celebrity!

Single Scoop of Birthday Cake in a cup topped with fruits and whipped cream!
Oh my God this was heaven!
The ice cream tasted like Dunkaroos for those who are interested. I realized it was the type of sprinkles that was used to gave me the impression this was Dunkaroos, the Ice Cream version!
Back view.. I already started eating...
 Waffle Bowl
Oh my God! This was sooo delicious! Danny had this Waffle Bowl with Mint Chocolate Chip and the Gold Medal Ribbon (Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Chocolate and Caramel Ribbons).  The Gold Medal Ribbon went well with the Waffle Bowl.  The Mint Chocolate Chip is better on its own.

 One bite for you!
 The fruits were fresh! Yummy!

Home Decor that has a cultural Holland theme to it.
Hey look! It's Sporty Spice from the Spice Girls.
I had the pleasure to meet Dina, one of the owners of Dutch Dreams and she told me how one time, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their bodyguards stepped in a couple of times and she didn't even know until they were about to leave.

Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus from The Matrix) was there last week too!  Dina said that he and his wife came by, and Laurence's wife was in Toronto shooting a show.

Btw, I recently watched the movie, "Half Baked" starring Dave Chappelle.  The movie features a scene in the old Dutch Dreams location!

 I loved this scene!

They had added a candy section for the sweet-tooths. You can scoop candy into a Chinese take out box. It's so cute!
These are the tallest stacked ice cream cones ever!
Gourmet Fancy Cones

Grape Nut Ice Cream is on the bottom right hand corner. I would describe this as a mild flavour ice cream but it has grape nuts which really add texture to the frozen dairy treat. The grape nuts taste like chewy oatmeal.
My boyfriend's favourite flavour is the Mint Chocolate Chip. We have been avoiding buying supermarket ice creams ever since I introduced Danny to Dutch Dreams.
Gum balls anyone?
A celebrity autographed her picture which was really neat!
I think I stared at that painting of the Old Dutch Dreams Store for about three minutes. I thought it was well painted and it brought back old memories.

Birthday Cake Ice Cream is located on the bottom left hand corner. Just looking at it reminds me of the Dunkaroos Frosting!
Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream is located at the right hand bottom corner.
Cotton Candy!
And you know they make their cotton candy fresh!
Have you see these before?
LOL! How do you like your toast?
Sweet with Sprinkles!

I never seen these types of Oreo Cookies, have you?

And I think that is the picture of the previous owner and his son.

He's on a flying magic carpet!
I love the decor of this place, it just makes me laugh.
I think that pink guy is a bubble gum in a bubble, get it? It's so cute!
I give this place 5.0/5.0. I am a regular customer and do visit Dutch Dreams from time to time. You will find a flavour you enjoy. Not only do they have ice creams but also fresh pancakes and waffles, sorbets (Try the watermelon sorbet. It's my favourite because there are dark chocolate chips that look like watermelon seeds). The place is clean, the people there are friendly. There is a wide range of clientele of families, young ones and seniors.

Their address hasn't been updated yet but from what I can tell, Dutch Dreams is located at :
42-54 Vaughan Rd
Toronto, ON M6C 1A1
(416) 656-6959
