Pearl King

Pearl King Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
Hello Tapa Lovers!
I have visited Pearl King located in the Entertainment District on February 8, 2016.

Their customers were a mix of young and older adults. Most of them looked like they were taking a lunch break. First, I order cream corn chicken soup. It was too salty for my palate so I diluted the soup with hot water.

Left: Cream Corn Chicken Soup
Right: Crispy Honey Chicken with Sesame

Avoid ordering the Crispy Honey Chicken with Sesame. It tasted stale, dry and was extremely difficult to eat because it was so hard. It was pre-fried and fried again. There wasn't any honey in this dish, it tasted like syrup.

Top: Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice
It was served hot and fresh. The rice was coated lightly in red syrup with green peas, green onions and there were only a few pieces of pineapples. For $17.50, I was expecting a bit more.

Top: Har Kau (Shrimp Dumplings)
The shrimp was cleaned well. I thought it was brilliant how the chef used slices of carrots instead of dim sum wax paper. The carrots do the trick and yet it's edible.

Top: Scallop and Shrimp Dumplings
Danny and I enjoyed this dish the most. It was soft and meaty. It had plenty of shrimp and plenty of scallop.

Pearl King deserves 3.0/5.0. Where I was about sit had leftover noodles on the bench. I took the liberty of wiping it off myself. The staff were nice and friendly. It's a good place to meet up with a friend for drinks but it isn't a place to get full. I couldn't figure out the theme. The place was brightly lit, there were outdoor patio chairs and every one third of the room had different set of tables and chairs. Apparently, there are three floors but I didn't see. We were seated at the back of the ground floor.
